Fairy's Riddle

It is a sunlit, dancing day
Full of sparkling dew
Glistening on the bud...

And I am racing after Dandies
Which have just blown off
Their little lions...

When a shadow flits past
And the Dark Lady beckons
In a gossamer whisper...

The silken tendril of her gown
Touches the hem of my thoughts
And I pause...

Caught in the swirling web
Of Her starlit orbs shining
I query timidly...

"What would you of me, My Lady?"
Trembling in Her presence
I bow humbly...

"Look, childe, into the West
Past the Golden Sunset's
Place of wandering..."

Quizzically, I raise my face
Showing a puzzled contenance
As I stammer...

"B-but, My Lady of Darkness
Tis a fearsome P-place
for the fey..."

Continuing unaware of me
Her voice thunders
in that soft way...

"There will you find a Riddle
Hidden beneath the Sea Foam
In amber Light..."

And my eyes grow round
As my fear suddenly rages
But still, she whispers on...

"Bring that which I desire
Up into My Aeryie
And be quick!"

Shaking, but lief to disobey
I fly to my Mistress' bidding
My tiny heart askew...

And I search for that Thing
My Dark Lady desires from me
In the Bright West...

Coming upon the Blue Expanse
I shade my eyes and cry
Out to the Sunset there...

"Please, Golden One, I plea
Give to me that which My Lady
doth desire..."

And His Glory turns to me
Burning with Radiance
And Stars are in his voice...

"Childe, your Mistress is awry
The Gift is not for her
But for another..."

And I am blinded by his joy
Yet bravely I venture
Into these Other Realms...

"Glorious One, forgive me
But my Mistress will destroy
This insignificant one...

If the Riddle she doth desire
Is not within her grasp
Within the nounce..."

I cringe at my temerity
Hanging my head in shame
Awaiting judgement...

And a glowing surrounds me
Lifting my chin gently
Opening my heart...

"The One which is the One
Is not the One you want
Nor the One you need..."

And His joyous warmth enfolds
Bursting out of my pores
As I am Fired...

Racing back to My Dark Lady
Heart singing with Light
I tap upon her window...

And after I have given her
That which she required of me
I am free again...

To chase the Dandies
Blowing in the Wind
From the Sun....
