The Granting of a Wish
Would that I could grant your wish,
To fly with wings of gossamer,
To soar amidst the glistening stars,
And listen to your echoing roars
Within the caves of steel.
But as I've no gifts magical--
No special tricks, no formula--
I'll grant your wish as best I can,
By showing you what it is I see,
When I look upon your mundane form.
I see a dragon, in human guise--
Trying her wings upon the wind--
Her body glowing with an inner light--
Her mind expanding past horizons far--
Her limits only those she choses.
I can only tell you what I know--
The joy of being a dragon
is the joy of being human
and treasuring both.
