Thunder Dancing

Outside, the storm builds, thunder rumbling.
Inside, we circle one another, stalking.
A lightning strike close by...
One tail chases another, then quickly flies...
Clouds roil with intensity...
       The Dance begins in ernest...

Wind-whipped thunder booms overhead.
And the Dancers coil, scales rasping.
            Belly plates catch, and hold...
               Leaving the Dancers gasping.

Brilliant light floods the cavern floor...
Reflecting on prism and sunset scales.
            Talons raking on scaled hide--roars...
                Echoing the Dancer's fluting...

Boiling clouds, and the Thunder shakes...
       Poised, he enters her gently...
Cries ring out in the pounding they make...
As the Dancers join in the Thunder.

Spiraling upwards, the storm breaks...
But the Dancers continue their dancing...
             A last Thunderous chorus wakes...
And the Dancers break the Stone.

Light peeks out from behind the storm...
And the Dancers lie, exhausted and panting...
Wings softly caress a thigh exposed...
And sharp fangs glisten in the smiling.
